March 2016 - Bennington Open Day

Thanks to everyone who came to the Bennington Carriages 2016 Open Day. Wonderful weather provided a perfect backdrop for a wide range of demonstrations – including harnessing up, long reining and a driven dressage masterclass. Sue introduced a number of Bennington Carriages, including the new 2016 Stealth, whilst Simon, Chris and Dave led a series of factory tours and carriage maintenance classes – including a coach lining demonstration. There was something for everybody – from miniature horse driving to driver fitness and tips on turning your horse out to show standard and improving driving safety

And here's what some of our visitors said:
“Fantastic – very educational”
“Really enjoyed the factory tour – fascinating”
“Inspiring, motivating and informative”
“The talks were so captivating I completely forgot I was cold"

April 2016 - RDA day

April 2016 - RDA Day

The sun came out for the launch day for the new Bennington Rear Wheel Steering RDA Fun Bug. Twelve RDA groups attended the day and we showcased the new Bennington carriage designed for wheel chair and semi ambulant drivers.

During the morning, we talked through the key benefits of the new range of Bennington Fun Bug Rear wheel steering and we then demonstrated the carriage, with people having a ride to experience the ease of turning and exceptional ride of the carriage.

After lunch an informative talk was giving on social media, giving hints and tips on fundraising, writing press releases and the power of twitter. Using the resident plastic Bennington horse we discussed safety equipment and new Zilco products. To finish the day everyone was treated to a carriage maintenance and factory tour, behind the scenes at Bennington.

The feedback was very positive for the new Bennington range of RDA carriages, which are now in full production. It was super to hear about the great work the RDA groups are doing and a superb opportunity to network, share best practice and inspire each and every one. A big thankyou to Margaret Brockie, RDACarriage Driving Chairman for her input during the day and support.

April 2016 - Shetland Day

April 2016 - The Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society Driven Performance Awards Scheme Training day

“The Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society Driven Performance Awards Scheme held its annual training day at Bennington on Saturday. Sue Mart was an absolute star and helped the 9 turnouts who attended to go forward in achieving the goals they had set themselves. The turnouts we all members of the Scheme and whips and ponies came from complete novice to experienced. The highlight of the day was seeing Andrew and Hannah Britland putting to for the first time with their home-bred pony. They had done all the preliminary work themselves and we all look forward to seeing this lovely little turnout throughout the season. Many thanks Sue, everyone went home feeling they had achieved something and a wonderful and safe environment”. Willowe Keeley

The views across the 3,000 acres of the park laid out by Capability Brown were absolutely fabulous. The event was very well run and a big thank you to Carrie Wright and her team. May 2016 - Brackenhurst Equestrain Centre Students

May 2016 - Brackenhurst Equestrain Centre Students - 'Try Carriage Driving'

Eleven students visited us from Nottingham Trent University Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre, Foundation 2 Sport Horse Management and Coaching course to “Try Carriage Driving”. We gave them an overview of carriage driving, including harnessing up, rein handling, a factory tour and driving indoors & outdoors. The outdoor session included some skills test which were very well received...and a lot of fun too! We talked about the sport of carriage driving and the industry, and the students saw many riding similarities when compared with driving. I'm sure we will see a few of them at future events, either cheering us on or stewarding.

It was a great start to the week; here's a few lovely reviews from the day:
"Fantastic day, beautiful carriages and horses, wonderful day"
"Fantastic day, brilliant staff"
"Bennington Carriages is a wonderful place to visit with great educated people"
"A brilliant day, great fun"
"A fantastic introduction to an exciting sport – once is never enough!"
